PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
Downham House exists solely to serve the children and young people and their families who use our service; our mission is to enhance the quality of life of every one of our service users by providing an innovative, high-quality care and support service in a quality environment. We genuinely consult with the people who use our service, staff and other stakeholders to find ways to improve the service and to introduce new services to meet newly identified needs.
We aim to meet our young people’s needs for independence, personal choice and control, privacy, fulfilment, safety, citizenship and social interaction in respectful and dignified ways that enable them to live more fulfilled lives. We believe that ensuring these needs are met will promote an overall sense of well-being and clearly demonstrate to the people who use our service that care and kindness are at the heart of the service we provide.
People are our most important consideration and our most important asset. The most vital resource to Downham House is our staff, therefore we strive to attract and retain outstanding employees. We believe in and we strive to maintain an open, friendly and supportive organisation. Our service is built around a team of people who co-operate and support each other in order to achieve the best results for the children and young people we serve.
